The Salto del Laja (in English: Laja Waterfall) is a waterfall located 25 km (15 mi) from the city of Los Ángeles, Chile. It is composed by four spectacular falls, between 40 and 55 meters (130 and 180 ft.) in height.
Upstream from the falls the river is quiet and very low and can be easily forded, but downstream is reduced to a deep and narrow canyon about 4 km (2.5 mi) long and 20 meters (65 ft.) wide.
In the summer the Salto del Laja chutes originate abundant foam that, by the effect of the solar rays, produces uncountable rainbows. The surrounding landscape is composed by vegetation of the steppe-type, which complements its beauty.
