Shoshone Falls, often referred to as the “Niagara of the West”, cascades 212 feet (64.7m) down over the 900 ft. (274m) wide canyon rim to the river below. Located near the city of Twin Falls, Idaho, it is one the most impressive views along the Snake River.
The city of Twin Falls owns and operates a complex that offers recreational facilities, including playgrounds and hiking trails, landscaped picnic areas, a boat ramp and swimming area, and a scenic overlook of the Shoshone Falls.
The water flow of Shoshone Falls is controled by a dam of Idaho Power, which uses a dam located right above the falls and it is used for irrigation as well. So the waterfall is most awesome during the spring, when water flows are high due to the snowmelt in the mountains.
Opening Hours: Open daily year round from 7 am to 9 pm. Entrance Fee: $3 per vehicle and $20 per bus.
